24 heures du Mans

Today at 15.00 the 75th edition from the 24H of Les Mans will drop his flag, it is organised by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) and run on a circuit containing closed public roads. We look forward to see the duel between Audi And Peugeot both diesel-engined . Last year, the Audi R10 TDI was the first diesel-engined (5.5-litre 600bhp V12 turbo) endurance car that won the 24H of Les Mans covering 5187 km at an average speed of 215,109 km/h. This year Peugeot has two 908 HDI, FAP's (twin turbo 5.5-litre V12 with 700bhp) to compete with Audi, both, Audi and Peugeot are the best in making diesel engines. If you're not off to Les Mans here are 24 things you better should've been.

The Motorsports centre located at Weissach hides the heart of Porsche Motorsports. The super-modern Motorsport complex with alot of aluminium and glass is made up of four buildings wich includes workshops, race vehicle production, logistics centre a office block for administration and development departments as well as car park.

The workshop facilities house seperate areas for the servicing of Cup and customer race cars, for the successful RS Spyder sportscar prototype, the 911 GT3 RSR as well as for development projects. Other work places are directly connected except for the first floor wich is home to the engine and transmission departments.

Max Mosley wants V6 engines running on biofuel

If Mosley, president of the FIA, gets his way, Formula One will switch to V6 engines in 2011.

The 2.2 litre turbo-charged formula, with power plants limited to just 10,000 rpm and running on biofuel, was set out by the FIA President in a letter to manufacturers, according to the magazine F1 Racing.

The radical proposal, to make F1 technology more cost-efficient, road relevant and environmentally friendly, will also involve single engines being used for a minimum of five grands prix, compared with the current two.

Also proposed for the 2011-2014 regulations are four-wheel drive, power-boost buttons and “severely constrained” aerodynamics, such as the limitation of wind tunnel use, and the document was also sent to Volkswagen and Ford, who may enter F1 in the future.

“We understand that such an approach has broad support from the competing manufacturers,” Mosley said. (GMM)
